Lester D. Stone officiating. GRADES, PETER B. "PETE" Lansing Born May 31, 1913, in Grand Rapids to Michael and Pauline (Worpel) died Sunday, February 28, 1999, at the age of 85. Mr.

Grades was the former owneroperator of the Hy-Grade Market (Pete's Hy-Grade Market), retiring in 1978 after 44 years. Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Pete had been a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church for 48 years and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Richards Council 788. He loved working at the store and using his handyman skills, however, his greatest love was for his family, serving as an active role model in all of his children's lives. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Donna 4 daughters, Paula (Eric) Clark, Theresa Grades, Donna Izzo and Laura (David) Miller; 6 sons, David (Sue), Ronala, Larry (Rachel), Mark, Peter, and Bruce (Kari) Grades; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Eva Norris, Anna Lewa-kowski and Rose Hall.

"ROBBIE" Haslett A resident of Lansing and Haslett most of his life, Robbie was born October 28, 1919, in Portland; went to be with the Lord February 27, 1999, at the age of 79. He was a Graduate of Lansing Eastern High chool and had been in the printing occupation for 47 years, retiring in 1983, and then was employed with Gorsline-Runciman Co. from 1984-1997. Robbie was an active member of Olivet Baptist Church and was past President and a life member of the Lansing Club of Printing House Craftsmen. He was preceded in death by his son, James Harold (1988).

Robbie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his wife, Viva; 2 daughters, Judi (Tom) Trumble of Lansing and Joni (Okey) Manning of Williamston; daugnter-in-law, Leanor Robinson; 4 grandchildren, Tami (Chris) Muethel, Debi Trumble, Christopher Trumble, and Scott Robinson; 1 great grandchild, Alexa Muethel; 1 brother, Robert Robinson of Berea, OH; 2 sisters, Ruth Mcintosh of Hawaii and Jean Smith of Plymouth; and 7 nieces and nephews. Lansing Born December 17, 1928, in Jackson, MI, the daughter of Walter and Faye (Brown) Gruenberg, died Friday, February 26, 1999, in Lansing at age 70.

Mrs. Funk graduated from Jackson High School and later, graduated from Henry Ford School of Nursing, class of 1950. She married Donald Funk on October 14, 1951. A Registered Nurse, she retired from the Oldsmobile Medical Department in 1987. She was a past President of the Lansing Occupational Health Nurses Association and most recently, she volunteered her time at the Hazel Find-ley Country Manor and the Lansing Area Safety Council.

She was an avid M.S.U. Hockey fan. She is survived by her husband, Donald; 3 children, Malinda Funk, Lisa (Ronald) Sykes and Jeff Funk; 2 grandsons, Jackson and Jacob Sykes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 2, 11:30 a.m. at the Palmer-Bush Lansing Chapel, 520 E.

Buchanan, Ml Formerly of Lansing Age 59, passed away on February 26, 1999, in Michigan City, IN. He was born on January 7, 1940, in Lansing, and had lived in the Lansing area for most of his early life before joining the U.S. Army in 1955. Mr. Scherrer served in the U.S.

Army for 28 years, including during the Vietnam War, receiving many honors before retiring in 1983 with an honorable discharge as a Master Sergeant. He had also been employed at the Indiana State Prison as an L.P.N., and was a member of the Buchanan V.F.W. Surviving are his proud daughter, Petra (Jack) Hendryx, and granddaughter, Heidi of Lansing; loving stepmother, Jeanne Scherrer of Charlotte; 2 sisters, Julie (Raymond) Martens of Bellevue and Paula (Bill) St. Andrew of Charlotte; former wife, Rita Scherrer of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces and nepehws. He was Preceded in death by his parents, aul and Eva (Waters) Scherrer, and his mother-in-law, Christine Schutz.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Scherrer. WALTERS, ESTHER M. Laingsburg Age 101, died Saturday, February 27, 1999. Mrs. Walters was born in St.

Charles on January 30, 1898, to Walter and Sarah (Throop) Case. A long time resident of Laingsburg, she graduated from Laingsburg High School and County Normal in Corunna. She was a School Census Taker, worked on the Election Board and at the Laingsburg Post Office, and taught one year at Wert School. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Laingsburg, Rebekah's and Gleaners, the Women's Fellowship, and the Rural Letter Carriers Association. On June 5, 1918, in Laingsburg, she married George H.

Walters who predeceased her in 1974. She is survived by 3 children, Bon-netta (Marven) Poindexter of Carson City, Florence Titus of Tustin and Harold (Mary Jane) Walters of Laingsburg; 5 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 21 great great frandchildren; and many nephews, he was predeceased by 1 granddaughter, Patricia, and 1 sister, Ruth. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 2, 1 p.m. at Nelson-House Funeral Home, McDougall Chapel, Laingsburg, with Pastor Ron Bence officiating. Burial in Laingsburg Cemetery.

He was a charter member of the National Farmers Organization and was also an entrepreneur, establishing several businesses with partners, Norwood Mills and Erdman Lipstraw. Norman is survived by his brother, Norwood of Dansville; several cousins; and some very supportive close friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 3, 12 noon at the Gors line-Rundman Co. Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle Williamston. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. MITCHELL, MYRTLE L. Lansing Formerly of Charlotte Born December 11, 1912, in Dimondale, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 1999. She is reunited with her loving husband, Keith, in Heaven. For many years, the Mitchells operated a dairy farm in Charlotte. Mrs.

Mitchell taught school for 38 years in Potterville and Waverly, was Principal at Potterville Elementary, and was named "Teacher of the Year" at Waverly. Myrtle loved to read her Bible and greeted everyone with "This is the day the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad." She will be sadly missed by her sister, Zella Holcomb of Lansing, many nieces and other relatives, and friends. Funeral; services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with Rev.

Dr. Charles Moore officiating. Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.
