>> former president trump is back in washington right now. looking to bring a new unity to the republican party and he will be hosting meetings with lawmakers, business leaders, and potential candidates for the vice presidency. he is expected to speak at the national republican vittorio committee later this afternoon. we will be monitoring his movements in washington all hour long. hello, everyone. this is outnumbered, i am kayleigh mcenany and here is my cohost, emily compagno, along with cheryl casone, and kaylee mcghee white, and fox news contributor, attorney, and former nypd inspector, paul mauro. first, let's go live on capitol hill. >> hey, kayleigh. it's been quite the circus here in washington, d.c., as we hop around different parts of the

9:02 am

city following the president on his whirlwind tour of washington, the nation's capital. she's with the ceos of different businesses at a roundtable, trying to sell his economic policy and trying to win some donors. next, he will be coming here to this building behind me, to talk with senate republicans. that includes leader mitch mcconnell. that should be very, very interesting. earlier this morning, he kicked things off with a big meeting with the house republican conference. this was really, kayleigh, a watershed moment for these house republicans who have been going through a lot of device nests in the last couple of months. especially after they kicked out their speaker last fall. he talked about a big tariffs package, cutting taxes for americans, talking about none of these wars going on in the world

9:03 am

would have been going on under his watch. he took a couple of hits at president biden as well. he called the current president a "dope" and said he would host several tele- town halls. they needed this moment for their presumptive nominee to come here and unite the party. listen. >> we know we have to hit the ground running and i think we have a great chance of having both the house and senate and white house. so there's a lot of excitement in the room. but for him to spend half the speech talking about despite the court cases and his own campaign, how he can help us? i thought it was really gracious. >> like i mentioned, next up, he will be meeting with senate republicans in the next half-hour. coming face to face for the first time with minority leader mitch mcconnell after four

9:04 am

years of having this really rocky relationship. and moving inside for a press conference right after. kayleigh, i want to mention how incredible this moment really is for house and senate repub republicans. two years ago, kayleigh, i was having conversations with very public republicans in this town saying that it would be a nightmare if trump came back to this town and so many of those people were inside with him supporting him and endorsing him today. a big moment for him. >> big moment, including for some that voted for impeachment. leanne caldwell of "the washington post" said trump mentioned to these congressmen that he's expanding the battleground maps to new jersey, new mexico, virginia, and minnesota. have you heard that? >> we know that he has definitely offered to give us much help as possible to these house republicans. i did not hear about that per se but he touched on a gamut of

9:05 am

different topics and his main agenda is trying to keep the house. i know a lot of folks in the house are worried they will lose it in november and they are riding on him to help them win the house. >> thank you very much. paul mauro. i think this accomplished two goals. you have to meet with the senate but it shows policy seriousness. he stood on the stage in nevada and said to the service employees that i do not want taxes on tips. it shows a seriousness, going to the hill, thinking about policy, making these promises of reality. but unity, congressmen that have not always been supportive. people like mitch mcconnell, a senator he has not spoken to in's 2020 will be with him to today. >> my perception of this it's it's the evolution of donald trump a little bit. shaking hands with the swamp, let's call it. look, he's got to balance that.

9:06 am

he runs as an outsider. it's how he won the first time you won. he wants to clean the house, drain the swamp, this is realpolitik. he's the republican nominee. at that point, he will have to go back down into the swamp. you need allies. no man is an island. seriousness, a purpose. going into the convention, everybody is on the same page. if he gets the nomination, everyone will know what he stands for. whereas you can counter it with the democratic side of things, we are not even sure who the nominee is going to be despite the fact that the presumptive nominee is an incumbent. they have momentum. i think it's a good move. >> there are folks that are not on the same page as trump and republicans. they are democrats. here's what they had to say. >> i just get sick thinking about my republican colleagues in the senate. many of whom i considered to be friends, many of who i know, to

9:07 am

support american democracy. watching them get behind this candidate. >> he's able to control them from afar, whether he's in new york or florida, he's calling the shots on the republican party. >> she has the perfect right to talk to senators. i don't make anything of it. it just shows whenever my colleagues are still enthralled in this trump colt -- >> they are asking their leader to come talk to them. they will do whatever he asked them to do. >> kaylee. >> it's an important opportunity for opportunity for republicans to demonstrate division. internally, the party is in turmoil over the gaza conflict. the infighting that occurred this week when hillary clinton endorsed the primary opponent of jamaal bowman and bernie sanders is attacking her. they cannot stop fighting among themselves. that will be temporary. we know one thing about the

9:08 am

democrats. they will vote blue no matter who. they will rally together before november. this is an opportunity for republicans if they can take advantage of it. it'll be especially critical heading into november because that's how you win over voters. they want to talk about issues, the economy, immigration. if i am a republican. every time the democrats start fighting about what's happening in gaza, i'm reminding voters that biden just let in eight potential terrorists across our southern border. if i'm a republican, i'm reminding voters every time democrats try to figure out about what to do with bide bidenomics, i'm hammering out those issues because that's what voters care about today. >> donald trump is very keen on seeing the house take action on

9:09 am

the law fair issue. but i'm intrigued by something politico reported on this morning. a proposal to allow the president to try to remove state court proceedings through federal courts. i had no clue but apparently judges have the ability, executive officials, to ask their proceeding to be removed from political court. why shouldn't the leader of the free world be able to do that? summarizing the argument. >> let's dig into this for a second. representative fry wrote this almost a year ago but now it's being ready for possible action. he's whipping up four votes. if you are a current drill lawmaker or judge, you can move and have it changed to a federal jurisdiction. that's pretty huge. why can't the president argue this?

9:10 am

we are drawing the distinction that president trump is not a sitting president or this bill would not impact sitting presidents. maybe that's the difference. at the end of the day, it is sound logic. think about the luxury, frankly, of having it removed -- the jurors, the pace, caliber, everything at the federal level works at a level you would want to see with the former president especially being charged with something. especially if nancy pelosi can do it right now, why can't president trump? earlier today, the other mainstream networks, as they were covering president trump on the hill, they were just showing footage of january 6th. as if he's leading the charge. i mean, it's just ridiculous. >> and nancy pelosi mentioned january 6th. that's the argument so many years later. business ceos wrapping their arms around trump's and another component of this.

9:11 am

>> he's at the business roundtable. there are about 200 members and a lot of them did not accept the invitation but do you know who's there? jamie dimon, citigroup, bank of america, or ghibli three of the most powerful banking ceos in this country. that's money. what is the pitch to them right now? at this moment, i'm going to lower taxes even more. i'm not going to hike up your corporate tax rate like biden wants to do. he is also telling them that i will cut down regulations even more. he will fight against the green energy plans. a lot of companies have complained about that. this is money talks and money is what campaigns run on. i'm sorry, maybe that sounds cynical to all of you. it's true. his messaging is on point right now with the business community. >> a potent pitch. after three years of bidenomics. former president trump is going all in on winning young voters.

>> i can't even. >> is not going to work? >> things are not working out well for the biden administration and rolling out electric vehicles. but there was a great piece about how the biden administration has failed and his political fantasies keep crashing into automotive reality. the millions of dollars we've given to the industry and consumers are saying i'm not interested in electric vehicles. i cannot charge it. how do i go from arizona to california in an electric vehicle? they are desperate at this point. the great agenda is not working. especially financially. >> desperate but the marketing i find atrocious. contrast that with the 104-year-old female lobster women currently working, how the lobster industry is one of the many industries threatened by this administration, overregulated.
